MPs to debate key bills on budget, tax reforms, and healthcare

Moldovan MPs are set to convene for a crucial plenary session on Thursday, starting at 11:00 a.m., with a packed agenda addressing pressing issues like state budget, tax reforms, healthcare, and more.

Crucial Budget Discussions: The session will see parliamentarians tackling key economic matters, including debating and potentially approving the state budget for 2024, the social security budget, and the budget for the compulsory health insurance funds.

Legislative Reforms Under Scrutiny: Beyond financial matters, the session will also delve into legislative reforms. MPs will debate bills aimed at rectifying the current year's state budget, simplifying the process of drafting normative acts, reducing certain customs duties, and establishing a clearer framework for the "status, conduct, and ethics of MPs," according to the Permanent Bureau.

Additional Bills in Focus: Several other significant bills await consideration during the session. MPs will examine a bill on the practice of medicine, another on architectural activity, and further amendments to the State Tax Law in the first reading.

Second Reading for Key Bills: Bills on medicines, state-guaranteed mediation services, and extending the term for qualified child care activities will be brought back for a second reading in the session. Additionally, MPs will consider establishing an electronic voting system in local councils and a new mechanism for calculating land use fees.

International Cooperation: On the international front, parliamentarians will be voting on the ratification of a financing agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to support the "Moldova Orchard" project.

The upcoming plenary session promises to be a consequential one, with crucial decisions on budget allocation, legislative reforms, and international cooperation on the horizon.
