Moldova's Sandu honoured for Pro-European Leadership
Moldovan President Maia Sandu received the "Mihnea Constantinescu - Leadership based on values" award at the 13th Aspen Leadership Awards Gala, held last Friday.
The award recognizes Sandu's "unwavering efforts to keep the Republic of Moldova on its pro-European trajectory," as stated by the Aspen Romania Institute in a press release. "She has demonstrated not only high professionalism, but also the qualities of an authentic leadership model."
The Aspen Leadership Awards Gala, which coincides with the Institute's 17th anniversary, honours individuals and organisations who have made significant contributions to Romanian and global society throughout the year. Awardees are recognized for their ethical and professional conduct in fields such as public service, technology, research and innovation, art, and cultural heritage.
"Through this award, the Aspen Romania Institute expresses its appreciation for President Sandu's continuous efforts in keeping Moldova on its pro-European path," the Institute stated.
Moldova's Ambassador to Romania, Victor Chirilă, accepted the award on Sandu's behalf during the ceremony.
The "Mihnea Constantinescu - Leadership based on values" award is presented annually to a public sector leader or international organisation that has demonstrated excellence in their field and consistently promoted the values of exemplary leadership. Previous recipients include prominent figures such as:
- Roberta Metsola (President of the European Parliament)
- Jens Stoltenberg (NATO Secretary General)
- Pierre Moscovici (former member of the European Commission)
- Michel Barnier (former chief negotiator for the European Commission's relationship with the United Kingdom)
