Ministry of Education and Research will launch the "Model Schools Network" program
The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) will launch the "Model Schools Network" program, under which investments will be made in 35 institutions throughout the country. This means major repairs, equipping to European standards, renovating sports fields, arranging courtyards, ensuring energy efficiency and implementing digital technologies. This topic was discussed during an event where the results of the Republic of Moldova in the Program for International Student Assessment PISA 2022 were analyzed.
The discussion brought together the heads of local specialized bodies in the field of education and school directors from the whole country, the aim being to launch some changes in the training of students.
Also, the MEC will propose a social allowance for parents who have children in schools with less than 50 students and who want to make the transition to an institution with better study conditions. These children will benefit from free meals and 70 new school buses will be purchased to transport them.
"To ensure the quality of teaching, the MEC undertook several measures to motivate young people to a teaching career - it doubled the pedagogy scholarships and increased the employment allowance. In order to ensure the quality of future teaching staff, only graduates who have averages higher than grade 7 will be able to access specialized universities", said the Minister of Education, Dan Perciun.
The participants of the event also discussed the challenges encountered at the local or institutional level, shared examples of good practices in ensuring a safe, friendly and competitive educational climate.
