Anca Dragu is the new governor of the National Bank of Moldova for a term of seven years

The former Minister of Finance from Romania and ex-president of the Senate from Bucharest, Anca Dragu, was appointed as governor of the National Bank of Moldova for a term of seven years. Her candidacy was approved during the Parliament session on December 22, with the vote of 58 deputies.

Anca Dragu has significant experience in the financial-banking sector and in public policies and EU accession. Anca Dragu worked for more than 15 years within the National Bank of Romania and the International Monetary Fund and she was Minister of Public Finance in the Government of Romania. In 2020, she was elected president of the Romanian Senate.

We remind you that on Thursday, December 21, the governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, was dismissed from his position. A decision in this sense was approved during the Parliament session, with the vote of 81 deputies. The PAS deputies were dissatisfied with the fact that Armașu did not suspend the BNM employees who are accused in the "Bank Fraud" file.
