Spring Festival has started in China

The Chinese Spring Festival, also called Chinese New Year, has begun. It will last 40 days, during which the country expects the arrival of thousands of tourists. In the last two years, due to the restrictions of COVID-19, few people attended the festival, but this year the Chinese are storming the trains to get to the event.

China has reopened its borders to tourists for the first time since it imposed travel restrictions in March 2020. Arriving travelers will no longer have to self-quarantine - marking a significant change in the country's policy on COVID-19. According to forecasts by the China Railway Department, passenger travel during the Spring Festival will increase this year by 99.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching nearly 2.1 billion passengers. On the first day alone, more than 135 thousand passengers were registered in just one station. At the same time, Daxing International Airport in Beijing managed 531 flights on the first day, with more than 61 thousand passengers on board, an increase of 30 percent compared to the previous two weeks.
