Unveiled at the National Museum of Art of Moldova, this comprehensive collection spans nearly two centuries, showcasing the city's evolution through the eyes of its artists.

From the luminescent brushstrokes of Sergiu Galben's cityscape on the cover to Ruslan Roșca's evocative "Night at the Museum" engraving, the album features a diverse range of artistic expressions. Nearly two centuries of creativity are represented, with the earliest piece dating back to 1895 and the latest from 2023.

Beyond the artistic merit, the album delves into the city's history and cultural fabric. "We wanted to promote Chișinău's image both domestically and internationally," explains Natalia Procop, co-author and art historian. "This bilingual Romanian-English album brings together works from state collections and private artist holdings."

Art critic Elena Musteață emphasises the album's significance: "It's an attempt to capture the essence of Chișinău's urban landscape through its artistic representations over time."

Project director Aliona Grati further highlights the album's multifaceted value: "By examining these artistic interpretations, we gain insight not only into Chișinău's physical transformation but also into how its residents have perceived it throughout the years."

The album's launch coincides with the upcoming Culture Day, underscoring Chișinău's rich artistic heritage. The National Museum of Art of Moldova celebrates with free admission on January 14th and a special "Museum Night" program extending until 10pm.
