UNRWA crisis: Guterres seeks justice & continued aid

"Any UN employee involved in acts of terrorism will be held accountable, including through criminal prosecution," he declared in a firm statement. The Secretariat, he added, stands ready to cooperate with relevant authorities in pursuing legal action against any individuals found guilty.
Humanitarian Imperative at Stake: While addressing the gravity of the accusations, Guterres underscored the critical role UNRWA plays in alleviating the suffering of millions of Palestinian refugees. Highlighting the agency's dedication to serving some of the world's most vulnerable populations, often in perilous environments, he implored governments to maintain their support. Of the 12 individuals implicated, nine have been dismissed, one is confirmed deceased, and the remaining two are under ongoing investigation to verify their identities.
