Romania vows continued support for Moldova's EU integration: Ambassador

Romania's ambassador to Moldova, Cristian-Leon Țurcanu, reaffirmed his country's unwavering support for Moldova's European Union integration efforts following the appointment of Cristina Gherasimov as Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration.

"I assured Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov of our continued support in all areas where it is needed," Țurcanu wrote on Facebook. "The European integration of the Republic of Moldova is a priority objective that requires sustained and consistent efforts. We remain alongside the pro-European leadership in Chisinau on the path of reforms and modernization."

During their meeting, Țurcanu and Gherasimov also discussed specific areas of bilateral cooperation related to European affairs, highlighting Romania's ongoing assistance to Moldova in its EU accession journey.

Gherasimov's appointment comes amid renewed focus on Moldova's European aspirations. The country received EU candidate status in June 2022 and is currently undertaking necessary reforms to advance its membership bid.
