Moldova Seeks Human Rights Experts for Equality Council

Moldova is searching for new members for its Equality Council, the body tasked with protecting human rights and promoting equality.

Applications for the five open positions are due by March 6, 2024.

Candidates must be Moldovan citizens with a higher education degree and at least five years of experience in human rights. They must also demonstrate an "irreproachable reputation" and have no recent history of failing integrity tests or holding barred public positions.

"The council plays a crucial role in safeguarding the rights of vulnerable groups in Moldova," said a government spokesperson. "We encourage qualified individuals with a strong commitment to equality to apply."

The competition includes an initial eligibility check followed by an interview stage. Successful candidates will be nominated to Parliament for approval and serve five-year terms.

The current Equality Council members, appointed in 2018, will see their mandates expire on June 16, 2024.
