Zelenskiy: Free Black Sea Navigation Crucial for Peace in Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed free and safe navigation in the Black Sea as a pivotal aspect of his proposed peace formula during a regional meeting on Monday, News.ro reports.
"Our peace formula includes a first summit at the leader level, aiming for a free and safe Black Sea, accessible to all ships," Zelenskyy stated, per the Ukrainian Presidential Administration.
He highlighted Ukraine's success in driving Russian vessels out of Black Sea navigation corridors last year, proving export corridors function independently and negating the need for alternative routes or ports.
Zelenskyy's "Food Security" point within the peace formula calls for demilitarising food security and emphasises:
- Unimpeded navigation: Guaranteeing free, complete, and secure passage in the Black and Azov Seas.
- Port control: Restoring Ukraine's sovereign control over its ports.
- Expanded infrastructure: Establishing new ports and diversifying sea-transported Ukrainian goods.
