Moldova strengthens ties at Munich conference
On the second day of the Munich Security Conference, Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, met with his Lithuanian counterpart, Gabrielius Landsbergis, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation within the Three Seas Initiative.
Moldova recently joined this regional platform as an associated country.
"We talked about our country's European integration process and the advancement of reforms. Gabrielius Landsbergis assured us of Lithuania's continued support for our country's transformation and closer ties with the European Union," said Popșoi.
Deputy Prime Minister Popșoi also discussed Moldovan-Austrian cooperation with Austria's Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, Alexander Schallenberg.
"We agreed to build upon cooperation within the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. In this regard, my counterpart invited me to participate in the next Strategy Meeting. I thanked the minister for Austria's ongoing assistance to our country," said the Moldovan official.
With the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, Krišjānis Kariņš, Popșoi discussed the opportunity to organise a meeting of the joint Moldovan-Latvian Commission for Economic, Industrial, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, as well as a business forum. He expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit Riga.
Finally, Popșoi exchanged views with Swedish Minister Tobias Billström on steps to increase the resilience of Moldovan state institutions against foreign interference and hybrid attacks.
"I thanked him for Sweden's development assistance to the Republic of Moldova, which directly benefits our citizens," Popșoi concluded.
