Moldovan citizens will be able to travel in the EU with the ID card, ASP director
Starting with 2025, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova could travel with the ID card in the EU countries, said the director of the Public Services Agency (ASP), Mircea Eșanu, in the show "La 360 de grade" on Radio Moldova. According to him, starting from March next year, the ID cards will be improved.
"We hope from next year to issue, but no later than March 2025, to come up with a new identity card, the citizen's identity card, which will fully meet European requirements. They will also have an information carrier. The great advantage of the new identity cards, with time, they will be sufficient to travel including in the European Union. Exactly the same is true in the case of, for example, Ukraine, with which two years ago a protocol was signed through which those with biometric passports can cross the border", declared Mircea Eșanu.
We remind you that the last time the Government modified identity cards, driving licenses and vehicle registration certificates was in 2015. Thus, citizens who completed their documents later benefited from new models of documents. This upgrade meets the requirements of European standards and directives.
