Record Demand for Moldova's National Romanian Program
Moldova's National Romanian Language Study Program is experiencing a surge in popularity, with a record-breaking number of over 12,700 people enrolling for the 2024 edition.
Launched by the Moldovan Ministry of Education and Research, the program is designed for adults who want to improve their Romanian language skills or learn it from scratch.
The program's accessibility is a major contributing factor to its success. Free courses are offered both online and offline, catering to a wide range of learning styles and schedules. Over half (56%) of participants have opted for the convenience of online learning, while 44% prefer the traditional in-person classroom setting. Notably, more than 75% of participants seek to attend courses after work hours, demonstrating the program's flexibility for working adults.
The program caters to a diverse range of individuals, with participants coming from various fields such as education, economics, medicine, government administration, and the arts. This highlights the growing importance of Romanian language proficiency across different sectors in Moldova.
To meet this demand, the program offers beginner (A1) and elementary (A2) level courses, which account for over 9,000 enrollments. This reflects a significant desire among Moldovan residents to strengthen their foundational Romanian language skills.
The Moldovan Ministry of Education and Research's commitment to promoting education and multiculturalism is evident in their allocation of 10 million lei for this edition of the program. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate that attests to their Romanian language proficiency level, following the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
