Former head of the Border Police, charged in the case of the attack at the Chisinau International Airport

The former head of the Border Police, Rosian Vasiloi, was charged in the criminal case regarding the attack at the Chisinau International Airport on June 30, 2023, in which two people lost their lives. The information was confirmed for our radio station by the spokeswoman of the General Prosecutor's Office, Violina Moraru.

"Within the criminal investigation started on the basis of the reasonable suspicion of committing the crime of negligence in the service, witnesses were heard, documents important for the criminal case were seized. On March 6, 2024, the suspect was charged with committing the indicted crime. The impediment to the completion of the criminal investigation consists in the admission on December 20, 2023, by the investigating judge of the request of the accused's lawyer to lift the exception of the unconstitutionality of a legal provision, a fact that currently prevents the adoption of a decision on the case", said Violina Moraru .

We remind you that the head of the Border Police, Rosian Vasiloi, resigned in November 2023, after the second resounding case produced in the border area of the Republic of Moldova, when a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan illegally left in the fall last year, the territory of Chisinau International Airport.

On June 30, a border policeman and an officer of the airport security service were fatally shot by a citizen of Tajikistan, who was denied entry to the Republic of Moldova. Following the armed attack at the Airport, a criminal case was opened on behalf of Rosian Vasiloi for neglect of duty. Contacted by phone, Rosian Vasiloi did not answer our calls to comment on the decision of the General Prosecutor's Office.
