Police have updated their earlier statement, confirming that the suspected attacker fatally stabbed six people before being shot dead by an officer, the BBC reports.

A statement from New South Wales Police said the critical incident began when a man opened fire in Bondi Junction. Shortly before 4pm local time, multiple stabbings were reported from Westfield Bondi Junction. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene.
Eyewitness Accounts
Two eyewitnesses told Reuters they heard gunshots. Another stated they saw a woman lying on the ground, subsequently taking refuge in a jewelry store.
