Clarity Emerges: Moldova's Foreign Ministry Situation Explained
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, confirms that procedural measures have been taken at the department under his leadership, although he did not provide specific details regarding their nature.
The head of Moldova's diplomacy expressed readiness to collaborate with legal authorities in addressing this matter.
"Indeed, procedural measures have been undertaken within the department, particularly in the consular realm. Unfortunately, I cannot offer further details due to a lack of information, aside from what has been made public by the General Prosecutor's Office. I can affirm our institution's full transparency and willingness to provide all necessary information and cooperate fully with prosecutors in the handling of this matter. (...) As far as we understand, the individual under scrutiny has been summoned to the Prosecutor's Office but is currently not subject to any restrictions. To the best of my knowledge, no restrictions—such as arrest or travel limitations—have been imposed."
While it remains unclear who is the subject of this investigation, Mihai Popșoi stated, "It is uncertain whether corruption is involved."
"We will await an official communication from the prosecutor's office, as we cannot disclose more public information than what the Prosecutor's Office has provided during an ongoing process."
On Wednesday, April 24, the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) announced that procedural actions had taken place within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE). Additionally, it clarified that these actions did not result in detentions or the attribution of procedural statuses.
According to PCCOCS, more information will be provided later, as the investigations progress.
