The notification was delivered at his residence, in the presence of his lawyer, taking into account his advanced age and poor health condition, as reported by news.ro.

The General Prosecutor's Office announced the continuation of the criminal investigation in the Mineriad Case involving Petre Roman, Gelu Voican Voiculescu, Virgil Măgureanu, Adrian Sârbu, Miron Cozma, and generals Vasile Dobrinoiu and Petre Petre a day earlier.

According to Europa Liberă România, the reopening of the Mineriad Case follows a court order to restart the June 13-15, 1990 Mineriad Case in 2019.

Prosecutors argue that in June 1990, the defendants implemented a policy of repression against the civilian population in the capital, resulting in the deaths of four people, two people being raped, over 1,300 people being physically or psychologically harmed, and over 1,200 people being unlawfully deprived of their freedom.

The criminal investigation also involves other individuals, about whom prosecutors currently do not provide further details, promising to provide "new information when possible."

Thus, starting from June 13, 1990, prosecutors allege that the accused carried out a repressive action against the demonstrators in University Square in Bucharest, who, among other demands, were calling for former communist officials to be excluded from the new democratic elections.
