Moldova Calls for Bolstered Storm Defences After Deadly Night

Moldova needs to bolster its capacity to respond to extreme weather events, as these phenomena are becoming increasingly frequent.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean made this statement in the context of the severe storm that struck last night. Recean also expressed condolences to the families of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives.

"We are witnessing a rise in extreme weather events," stated the Prime Minister. "In response, we must bolster our preparedness and ensure that local authorities are equipped to respond swiftly in such situations. Unfortunately, two lives were lost last night. Our deepest condolences go out to their families."

A powerful storm ravaged Chisinau and other parts of the country last night, leaving dozens of communities without electricity. Several cars were also damaged after being crushed by fallen trees.
