The head of Romanian diplomacy, Bogdan Aurescu, reiterated his support for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova during the G7+ meeting, at the level of ministers of foreign affairs, which took place yesterday in videoconference format. In this context, the Minister also mentioned the planning of a new meeting of the Trilateral of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, in February, to strengthen the energy security of the neighboring countries.
During yesterday's meeting, held online, the Romanian foreign minister also highlighted the special situation of the Republic of Moldova, which is facing a deep energy crisis. At the same time, the head of diplomacy from Bucharest said that Romania contributes directly to the identification of solutions for the neighboring country's problems, such as ensuring about 80 percent of the total electricity consumption needs of the Republic of Moldova, as well as ensuring gas transit to this state through the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline.
The Romanian foreign minister pleaded for sustainable, more structured and permanent solutions to the current challenges facing Ukraine and the entire region. In this context, it is important to increase the assistance given to Ukraine, mentioned Bogdan Aurescu stating that Romania will continue to support this country, in cooperation with all partners who share the same visions and objectives.
