Igor Talmazan: From Customs Chief to Parliament's Secretary General

The former head of the Customs Service, Igor Talmazan, has been proposed for the position of Secretary General of the Parliament.

His candidacy, put forward by the head of the Legislature, Igor Grosu, was positively endorsed today by the Legal, Appointments, and Immunities Committee of the Parliament.

Igor Talmazan resigned from his position as director of the Customs Service on April 4 of this year. His resignation was prompted by a corruption case at Chișinău International Airport, in which seven customs inspectors are under criminal investigation for accepting bribes.

In 2021, Igor Talmazan served as a deputy in the Parliament and was a member of the Legal, Appointments, and Immunities Committee. Later, in 2023, he was appointed Secretary General of the Government.
