Orban: Hungary Opposes Ukraine Talks Amid EU Leadership Shift
Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary has criticised the commencement of negotiations with Ukraine.
In an interview with publications from the Funke Media Group, the Budapest official stated that Hungary does not agree with this process but does not obstruct it; rather, it supports the initiation of negotiations.
According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, these negotiations represent "a purely political process" where the issue of Ukraine's accession to the EU is not simply a matter of "yes" or "no."
It is noteworthy that Hungary will assume the presidency of the Council of the European Union from July 1 for a period of six months.
It is also notable that under Orban's continuous leadership since 2010, Budapest is increasingly adopting a friendlier stance towards Russia.
