The suspect, a Brăila resident, was detained for 24 hours and will be brought before a court to determine pre-trial detention. Details about the motive remain unclear, though the prosecutor confirmed there is no evidence of financial difficulties between the victim and her husband, also a dentist.

The investigation suggests the murder was premeditated. Security footage captured the suspect's movements. He initially travelled to Galați, returning to Brăila by taxi. After changing clothes, he entered Dr. Gavril's office for a brief moment before returning and fatally stabbing her three times. The murder weapon and the victim's phone are yet to be recovered.

Dr. Gavril's husband became concerned after she failed to answer his calls. He sent a cleaning woman to the office, where the gruesome discovery was made. Authorities are investigating the possibility that Dr. Gavril feared for her life and contemplated purchasing a firearm, having even taken a gun safety course in the past.

The suspect refused to speak with investigators but denied the accusations to journalists upon exiting the hearing.
