CSM Candidates Fail Integrity Test: Results and Appeals Process
Former judge Anatolie Minciuna and lawyer Vitalie Ciuchitu, both candidates for the Moldovan Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), along with Ion Rusu, a lawyer who is a candidate for both the CSM and the Disciplinary Board, did not pass the external evaluation.
According to the Commission's decisions, these candidates do not meet the required integrity criteria.
The Vetting Commission has published the results of the evaluations on its official website. Candidates have 48 hours to notify the Commission if they oppose the publication of the decisions. If no such notification is received, the decisions will be published on the Commission's website.
Decisions made by the Vetting Commission can be appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice within 5 days.
Of the five civil society candidates for the CSM, forwarded by Parliament to the Vetting Commission for evaluation, two passed, while three did not. Additionally, the evaluation of a candidate from the courts of appeal for the CSM is still underway.
Regarding the candidates for the Disciplinary Board of judges, the Commission has issued a non-promotion decision for some, with five decisions still pending and evaluations for six candidates currently in progress.
