The company that will build the bridge over the Prut river from Ungheni was selected
The Romanian National Road Infrastructure Administration Company has chosen the company that will build the first bridge at highway level over the Prut River at Ungheni (Romania) – Ungheni (Republic of Moldova). It is the company Ness Proiect Europe SRL. According to the source, the duration for the design and execution of the works is 24 months, of which 6 months are the design period and 18 months are the execution period of the works. The warranty period for the works will be 120 months.
The investment objective will be financed from European Non-Reimbursable Funds. The project aims to create a road connection between Romania, Iasi county and the Republic of Moldova, Ungheni district.
The approved route variant consists of a connecting road that separates from the future Târgu Mureș – Iași – Ungheni highway at km 96+140 and crosses the Prut river through a bridge with a minimum length of 261.20 m.
"The work involves the creation of two parallel bridges with a mixed steel-concrete deck and continuous girder (one bridge for each direction of traffic). The signing of the public procurement contract will be possible after the expiry of the period for submitting any appeals and respectively after the resolution of the contested/complaints formulated in the award procedure", reads the press release.
The bridge over the Prut from Ungheni is part of the A8 Motorway project, which will also have a border crossing point, which will interconnect the road infrastructures between both states: the Târgu Mureș - Iași - Ungheni Motorway - the state border (on Romanian territory) and the Road national R1 Chisinau – Ungheni – border with Romania (on the territory of the Republic of Moldova).
