Mi-28 Helicopter Crash in Kaluga: Technical Malfunction Suspected

A Russian military Mi-28 helicopter crashed on Thursday in the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The Interfax agency, cited by Reuters, reports that the crew did not survive the incident. The helicopter came down near the village of Klenki in a forested area, as reported by Alexander Baribin, the head of the Zhizdrinsky district.

Russian authorities suggest that a technical malfunction was likely the cause of the crash. While the Russian military has not specified the number of people on board, it is customary for a Mi-28 helicopter to have a crew of two.

An operational team, rescuers, and a commission from the Russian Air Force are currently at the accident site, as reported by Russian state media.
