Three people were rescued by the Moldovan firefighters deployed in Greece, who successfully intervened to extinguish a devastating fire in Varnavas town, Attica. The fire, which broke out on August 11, affected dry vegetation and forests, spreading rapidly to residential areas due to high temperatures and low humidity.
The IGSU team from the Republic of Moldova worked together with local teams to protect homes and properties and managed to save 10 houses and 5 vehicles. The intervention, which began in the afternoon of August 11, continued until the morning of August 12.
According to the information presented by IGSU, this morning, the Moldovan team received a new mission from the Greek authorities to intervene near the city of Athens.
IGSU firefighters are trained to handle other fire outbreaks and to support rescue and protection efforts in the region.
