Péter Szijjártó's Moldova visit: Key meetings and EU Presidency
On Friday, September 6, Péter Szijjártó, Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, will undertake a working visit to the Republic of Moldova.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău has announced that the visit will commence with a meeting between Minister Szijjártó and Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi. At 10:00, the two ministers are scheduled to hold a joint press conference. The Minister’s agenda also includes meetings with President Maia Sandu and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development Dumitru Alaiba.
Recently, Hungary's Foreign Minister made another visit to the Russian Federation. During his stay in St. Petersburg, he met with Alexei Miller, the director of Gazprom. This visit followed closely after his remarks in Brussels at the EU Foreign Ministers' meeting, where he criticised the European Union's capacity to safeguard the energy security of its member states against non-EU countries.
It is noteworthy that, as of July 1, Hungary has assumed the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) from Belgium for a six-month term. This marks the second time Hungary has held the presidency of the Council.
