Popșoi, about the new Russian ambassador in Chisinau: His activity was verified by the authorities

The new ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, was confirmed in his position after the Moldovan authorities verified his activity. Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi told Jurnal TV that although Ozerov has been involved in controversial statements throughout his career, no specific statement has targeted the Republic of Moldova in a way that would create diplomatic problems.

Popșoi emphasized that the aggressive rhetoric of Russian diplomacy is not new for Chisinau, but he expressed confidence in the ability of the Moldovan authorities to manage the situation. "We didn't imagine that they would send us someone who would behave and speak Romanian. (...) In the assessments that were made by the competent institutions, there were no statements that would have targeted the Republic of Moldova in one way or another, that would have created any problems. I would encourage you to have enough confidence in the capabilities of the Republic of Moldova," said the head of diplomacy from Chisinau, referring to Moscow's tradition of appointing diplomats with nationalist and pro-Russian attitudes to the region.

The new ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau is appointed after a period of tense diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and Russia.

We remind that on September 10, through a decree issued by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau, Oleg Vasnetsov, was released from his position. Oleg Ozerov was appointed in his place, by another decree.
