Brussels: Moldovan government delegation to attend EU-Moldova Association Council meeting

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița is to pay a working visit to Brussels from 4 to 8 February for the 7th meeting of the EU-Moldova Association Council. Moldova will attend this event for the first time as a candidate country for accession to the European Union, according to a government statement.

In Brussels, the evolution of Moldova-EU relations will be discussed, with a focus on political dialogue and reforms; economic and sectoral cooperation, including energy, trade, as well as foreign and security policy cooperation.

On 6-7 February, PM Natalia Gavrilița will also have a series of bilateral meetings with officials from European institutions.

The meeting of the EU-Moldova Association Council will be held on 7 February and will be chaired by the Head of the Moldovan Government, Natalia Gavrilița, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, Vice-President of the European Commission.

Besides the topics on the bilateral agenda, the Association Council will also exchange views on regional challenges, notably the impact of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The resolution of the Transnistrian conflict will be a further topic on the agenda.

The Moldovan delegation to the Association Council will consist of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu, the Minister of Economy, Dumitru Alaiba, the Minister of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenco, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea, and the State Secretary Adrian Băluțel.
