Russian forces launch attacks on Ukraine's key cities

On the night of Monday, October 21, Russian forces launched attacks on several cities in Ukraine using drones, guided bombs, and ballistic missiles. Among the most affected cities were Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Kryvyi Rih, as announced by local authorities, according to DW.

In Kharkiv, three districts were struck by guided bombs, resulting in injuries to 12 individuals, including seven women aged between 22 and 83, as reported by the regional police. The head of the Kharkiv Police, Vladimir Timoshko, emphasised that the attacks were "chaotic," suggesting that they constituted "terrorism against the local population." He further noted that Russian fighter planes took off from Belgorod to execute these strikes.

In the capital, Kyiv, air raid sirens sounded twice during the night. Debris from drones fell in the Dniprovski, Solomianski, and Holosiivski districts, injuring one person who received medical care on-site, as declared by Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Kryvyi Rih was also targeted by ballistic missile attacks, according to Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city’s Defense Council. Following these attacks, three individuals were injured, two of whom were hospitalised in moderate condition.
