Maia Sandu emphasises unity in her second presidential term
"The unity of our country and the mutual understanding among all who live in this land represent our greatest duty," declared President Maia Sandu, re-elected for a second term.
The message, posted on social media, follows closely after the processing of all the minutes from the second round of the presidential elections.
"We will only be strong if we remain united as a nation—we must stand together, with our heads held high and trust in one another. The unity of our country and the mutual understanding among all of us who inhabit this land is our most significant obligation... I have heard the voices of all, and I understand the things you wish to see corrected," wrote Maia Sandu. In her message, the President emphasised the "courage, industriousness, and kindness of Moldovans" as essential values that will form the foundation of a more united and stronger country.
The head of state appealed to politicians to "use their voices to promote respect for every citizen, goodwill, and mutual understanding." She also underscored that all citizens, regardless of region or generation, are part of the same national community: "All of us, with our strengths and weaknesses, and despite our differences, are one people—whether from Chișinău, Ocnița, Nisporeni, UTA Gagauzia, the diaspora, the young, or the elderly."
The message concludes with an appeal to construct a stronger Moldova founded on "brotherhood, solidarity, and humanity." The President called upon values handed down through generations, inviting everyone to contribute to a united and harmonious society.
It is noteworthy that Maia Sandu won the second round of the presidential elections on Sunday, becoming the first politician to whom Moldovans entrust, through direct vote, two consecutive presidential terms.
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has processed all the minutes from the second round of the presidential elections. Therefore, the candidate of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), Maia Sandu, secured a new presidential mandate with a score of 55.33%. The candidate of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), Alexandr Stoianoglo, garnered a score of 44.67%.
