Constantin Popovici claims runner-up in Cliff Diving World Series
Romanian athlete Constantin Popovici has achieved the title of runner-up in the World Cliff Diving Series.
In the final round of the season’s last event, held in Australia, Popovici attempted a dive with a difficulty score of 5.8. However, he missed his entry, scoring only 92.8 points from the judges. Despite this setback, his score was sufficient for a third-place finish in the season’s final stage.
The event, held near Sydney, Australia, was won by Oleksii Prigorov, marking the Ukrainian athlete’s first event win. Spanish diver Carlos Gimeno claimed second place. Aidan Heslop secured his first title in the World Cliff Diving Series, with the British athlete followed by Constantin Popovici in second overall and American diver James Lichtenstein in third.
As a result of his performance, Popovici retains his place among the eight permanent divers in the World Series. Another Romanian athlete, Cătălin Preda, has lost his permanent status.
