Russia strikes Sumy: Deadly missile attack hits residential building
A Russian missile attack struck a residential building in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy last night, triggering a humanitarian catastrophe.
Ukraine's National Police reported that 10 people, including a 9-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, were killed. Furthermore, 55 adults and 8 children were wounded.
Local authorities reported that over 400 people were evacuated from the heavily damaged building. Six nearby buildings were damaged, their windows shattered, and four vehicles were completely destroyed.
President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted on Telegram, expressing condolences to the families of the victims: "A missile struck a nine-story building. All necessary services are at the scene, and the rescue operation is underway."
Shortly after midnight, Sumy was again targeted by a missile strike, leaving the city without electricity, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration. Authorities are working to restore power.
