LIVE: Newly appointed ministers take oath of office
The new ministers took the oath of office today in the presence of the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. Daniella Misail-Nichitin will lead the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ludmila Catlabuga is the new Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, and Vladimir Bolea is the new Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
President Maia Sandu wished the new ministers success in their roles and emphasized the importance of continuing the reforms in these fields. She also noted the increase in the proportion of women in the government team.
“Mrs. Misail-Nichitin, you are familiar with the activity of this institution. The priorities are clear: first, accelerating the negotiation process with the EU in internal affairs, and second, enhancing the capacity of subordinate institutions so that citizens feel safe,” declared Maia Sandu.
The President welcomed the new Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, highlighting the challenges ahead.
“I encourage you not to focus on personal attacks and hate speech. You are here because you have demonstrated professionalism and courage in leading a complex field. You will need to address many issues moving forward,” she said.
Maia Sandu also expressed gratitude to Vladimir Bolea for the transformations he initiated in agriculture, noting the significant responsibilities of his new role.
“The programs and projects managed by your ministry directly contribute to improving citizens' living standards. Thus, the speed and quality of your actions are crucial. I have every confidence that you will succeed,” the President emphasized.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean also addressed the three ministers who took their oaths today.
“The Police of the Republic of Moldova have shown performance in combating electoral bribery and have demonstrated an increasing capacity to maintain public order,” noted Prime Minister Recean. He urged the new Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniella Misail-Nichitin, to achieve similar visible performance in other subdivisions of the Ministry.
The Prime Minister also welcomed Ludmila Catlabuga to the Cabinet.
“I am confident that, just as you have built an agriculture business with high added value for your family, you will replicate this success on a national level.”
Regarding infrastructure, the Prime Minister stated that Vladimir Bolea takes on a broad field with numerous responsibilities that significantly impact citizens.
“Thank you for transforming one sector; now it is time to advance to another. The construction sector must be revitalized as it serves as a contributor and driver of economic growth. We also need to restructure areas like the railways,” he added.
