Grants to support digital innovations and technological startups in Moldova

Thirty four start-up companies or individuals planning to start a home business submitted their innovative business ideas. Applicants of the most inspired investment projects, which reform the production model by implementing innovations or launch a new product, identify a new source of raw material or access a new market, will receive non-refundable funding of up to 500,000 lei to develop their business ideas.

In total, 70 business ideas were submitted to the program to support digital innovations and technological startups, launched last November. Of these, 34 complied with requirements. These are businesses in the field of education, winemaking, tourism and digital marketing promotion.

"We are a digital programming school for children. What we do is that we practically change the lives of children, giving them the opportunity to understand that a career in IT is a career that can bring many results in their lives", said Emil Chichioi, applicant for funding.

"This is a project that launches on the domestic market and abroad, including Moldova and Ukraine, a platform for psychologists, where patients will be able to have access to psychologists, practically instantly, or at least quickly and to some quality services", said Andrei Șântari, another applicant for funding.

"Our company unites brands with content creators and their communities so that the message their brands want to convey reaches as many people as possible and is as clear as possible for their audiences," said funding applicant Doina Babcinshi .

Each business idea was presented in a presentation session in front of a jury made up of specialists and external experts in the field. The most innovative projects, ten in number, will benefit from non-refundable funding from the state.

"It is one of the seven active grant programs within the Entrepreneurship Development Organization at the moment. It is a specific program, aiming to support people or companies to develop innovative products or innovative services. In this context, the state supports them with a grant of up to 500,000 lei to materialise the business idea", said Dumitru Pântea, ODA director.

The 34 business ideas will be pitched in two rounds, over two days, after which will be evaluated by the committee of the Support Program for digital innovations and technological startups.

The total budget of the program amounts to five million lei.
