Two Ukrainians, documented by customs officers for crossing the border with undeclared money
Two Ukrainians are being investigated by law enforcement after they tried to cross the border with undeclared money. The case was registered at the Sculeni Customs Post.
According to the Customs Service, law enforcement officers inspected a car registered in Ukraine, which was driven by a 54-year-old man. He had two compatriots as passengers, and all three stated that they were not transporting any goods that required declaration.
During the inspection, authorities found significant amounts of cash in the driver's luggage, including $10,860, €300, and 201,140 Ukrainian hryvnias. Additionally, in the suitcase of a 53-year-old passenger, authorities discovered more foreign currency: €3,800, $10,300, and 4,870 Ukrainian hryvnias.
The total amount of cash exceeded the permissible limit for transportation without mandatory declaration, leading to the seizure of the funds. The individuals involved may face sanctions for a minor offence.
