President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu discussed with Jose W. Fernandez, Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment of the United States Administration, who is visiting Chisinau.
Officials discussed the negative impact of Russia's war against Ukraine on Moldova, according to a press release issued by the presidential institution. They also referred to how the energy crisis, inflation and economic problems are being handled.
The head of state expressed her gratitude for the long-standing partnership with the US and for all the financial support provided by American friends to overcome the crises of the last year.
The US contribution to the development of democracy and the fight against corruption was underlined, mentioning in this context the sanctions issued by the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) against certain individuals and entities in Moldova involved in systemic corruption and undermining state security.
In Chisinau, Jose W. Fernandez is to chair a roundtable discussion with members of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Moldova.
