US President Joe Biden pays another visit to Poland, his second since the start of the war in Ukraine

US President Joe Biden is to make an official visit to Poland at the end of February, his second since the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine almost a year ago. According to a White House statement, Joe Biden is due to visit Poland from 20-22 February and will also meet with the leaders of the Bucharest 9 countries, including Romania.

Joe Biden will arrive in Poland on 20 February to discuss bilateral cooperation with President Andrzej Duda, as well as efforts to support Ukraine and strengthen NATO's defence, according to a White House announcement. Mr Biden will also meet the leaders of the Bucharest 9 countries: Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Slovakia.

According to a press release, the US president will reaffirm his "unwavering" support for the security of the NATO alliance. Joe Biden will also make a speech marking the one-year anniversary of the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, in which he will express his unwavering support for Ukraine "for as long as it takes".

Polish President Andrzej Duda welcomed President Biden's new visit in a tweet.

"At my invitation, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, is coming to Poland for another visit. Poland will also host the NATO-US Eastern Flank Summit. Our relations in the Alliance are stronger than ever," he wrote.

The US president also visited Poland last year in March, shortly after the start of the war in Ukraine. Then, Joe Biden visited the US 82nd Airborne Division, deployed in Poland to reinforce NATO's eastern flank, and ate pizza with the soldiers.
