The Ministry of Energy has announced that a tender has been launched for this purpose.

In the first phase of the tender, batteries with a capacity of 30 MW will be procured and installed at the CET Nord power plant in Bălți. According to the source, the contract is expected to be signed in the coming weeks, and the work is scheduled for completion in September 2026. This innovative system will improve the management of the electrical grid, contributing to its stability and the integration of locally produced renewable energy.

“The acquisition aims to improve the reliability of Moldova’s electrical grid, facilitate electricity trade with Romania, Ukraine, and the European market, and support the integration of locally produced renewable energy,” the Ministry states.

The project is funded with $85 million from the U.S. Government as part of the #MoldovaConnected initiative, which aims to integrate Moldova’s energy sector with Europe and reduce its dependence on external energy sources.
