The rooms are equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology, and surgeries will take place in an optimal environment that ensures patient comfort. According to the institution’s representatives, an average of 5 to 6 surgeries will be performed daily in each operating room.

For the first time in the Republic of Moldova, a comprehensive operating block has been inaugurated, integrating the departments of anesthesia, intensive care, and imaging. This structure allows for continuous monitoring of patients and the visualization of clinical data and process dynamics. Minister of Health, Ala Nemerenco, emphasized that the reconstruction and equipping of the block cost over 177 million lei (~€6 mln), funded by the state budget and external donations.

"You have access to diagnostic tools that will help you perform surgeries more efficiently. The operating rooms are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment. You will be able to increase the number of surgeries, and it is expected that the length of hospital stays will be reduced, as fewer complications are expected under these conditions," said Ala Nemerenco.

After years of waiting, doctors will have access to modern equipment that will improve patient safety during surgeries, said Victor Andronachi, head of the Surgery Department.

"This is the fulfillment of long-awaited expectations, which is gradually taking shape. What we have achieved allows us to perform highly advanced neurosurgical operations with a high level of safety," said Victor Andronachi.

Most of the technology and equipment were donated by the Government of Japan. The Japanese Ambassador to Chișinău, Yamada Yoichiro, highlighted that Tokyo will continue to support Moldova’s efforts to modernize its healthcare system.

"These pieces of equipment are a symbol of our solidarity and gratitude. We look forward to the day when both Moldova and Ukraine will live in prosperity, peace, and independence as members of the European Union," said Yamada Yoichiro.

It should be noted that up to 20% of the surgeries will be performed as outpatient procedures. The Ministry of Health intends to increase the number of surgeries from 31,000 in 2024 to 35,000 by 2027.
