A new record in renewable energy production in the Republic of Moldova. On March 18, 29% of the energy consumed came from renewable sources, the Ministry of Energy informs. This refers only to Tuesday, when there were favorable weather conditions, but the average for 2024 was 16.7%.

The data does not include the energy generated by prosumers - companies and households that have installed photovoltaic panels under net metering and billing mechanisms, capacities that amount to over 150 MW, reads the cited source.

According to official data, installed renewable energy capacities have increased by about 10 times in the last seven years. At the end of January 2025, the total installed power was about 618 MW, compared to 61.6 MW at the end of 2018. Photovoltaic installations recorded a significant leap in the evolution of electricity production capacities—over 50 times in six years, while wind turbines have increased five times.

"This progress will help us achieve the targets for a 30% share of renewable energy in final consumption by 2030," reads a statement from the Ministry of Energy.
