Nicu Popescu on a visit to Brussels: "I will discuss the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union"

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Deputy Prime Minister, Nicu Popescu, pays a visit to Brussels, where he will participate in the work of the Council of Foreign Affairs of the EU. Popescu will talk about the implementation of the 9 recommendations of the European Commission, the priorities of the new Government and the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.

"During the working visit that I am starting today in Brussels, the Kingdom of Belgium, I will present to the European partners the priorities of the new government of the Republic of Moldova and I will discuss the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU, the implementation of reforms and the transposition of the community acquis into national legislation" , wrote Nicu Popescu on his Telegram account. In the discussion with European officials, the head of diplomacy from Chisinau will also address the threats facing the Republic of Moldova, regional security in the context of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine, strengthening the country's resilience and the support offered by the European Union. Nicu Popescu will also discuss the organization of the Summit of the European Political Community in Chisinau. In June 2022, the Republic of Moldova obtained the status of a candidate country for accession, assuming commitments to reform the justice system, harmonizing the national legislation with the European one. A first report of the European Commission should be presented in March.
