Minister of Justice meets the members of the CSM. She said that judges' salaries will be increased "substantially"
Judges' salaries will be increased substantially, said the Minister of Justice, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, in a meeting with the members of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM). The discussions took place in the context of justice reform and the extraordinary evaluation of judges, as well as the resignations of several judges. All the current members of the CSM were invited to the meeting.
"The responsibility for improving the image and trust in the judicial system rests on the shoulders of every judge, including participating in the justice reform, in this necessary evaluation exercise to verify and to encourage honest and professional judges; to elect a new CSM and to ensure fair justice for every citizen", emphasizes Veronica Mihailov-Moraru.
The minister emphasized the need to encourage the participation of judges in the General Assembly, so that a functional CSM can subsequently be established, and the judicial system gradually returns to its own capacity to solve problems.
The General Assembly of Judges is to be convened on March 17, during which the permanent members of the Superior Council of Magistracy will be elected from among the judges.
According to the Constitution, the CSM is the self-administration body of judges and its involvement in the justice reform process is essential.
