From Google, to a business in Hong Kong: The story of Daniela who left the Republic of Moldova at 17
Daniela Avramioti, born in the Republic of Moldova and educated in London, is currently making her mark in Asia.
Daniela Avramioti left the Republic of Moldova at the age of 17 after winning a scholarship to study in the United Kingdom. She was later admitted to King’s College London, where she pursued a degree in Mathematics, Management, and Finance. Daniela also secured a position at the prestigious company Google. After 15 years of living in London, she and her family emigrated to Hong Kong.
In an interview with the show "Far/Near" on Moldova 1 TV, Daniela shared that her journey was not easy, but the results reflected the hard work she put in.
"When I moved to the United Kingdom, I didn’t know much. I had to learn quickly and adapt to the culture there," she noted.
Although it was challenging for her to leave her job at Google, Daniela decided to follow her husband to Hong Kong. He works for a financial institution there, and she is eager to explore Asia and develop her personal beauty business.

Infrastructure and respect for teachers and doctors could make Moldova healthier
Daniela was first impressed by the kindness of the people, especially towards foreigners, during her time in Hong Kong.
She also noted the well-developed infrastructure, transportation, and healthcare system there—attributes she wishes to see in Moldova.
“Infrastructure is an essential step towards the development of a city and a country,” she stated.
Daniela believes that the government should provide more support for doctors and teachers to ensure the healthy development of the nation. These professionals play a crucial role in the health and education of the population.
“I admire Romania’s approach, where the government approved a law that increased doctors’ salaries, thereby encouraging physicians from abroad to return home,” she argued.
As a mother of a young girl, Daniela also draws inspiration from the Republic of Moldova's practices, such as maternity leave.
“In the UK, you can take up to a year of maternity leave, but not all of that time is paid,” she compared, reflecting on her experiences as a mother originally from Moldova.
