The method of delivering social payments in the Republic of Moldova will undergo significant changes, focusing on digitalization, simplification, and enhanced efficiency. These changes aim to ensure that funds are allocated more fairly and transparently to those beneficiaries who genuinely require support.

In the meeting held on August 6, the Government approved a Draft Decision to amend several Government Decisions. This initiative, developed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, is based on proposals from the National Social Insurance House.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Alexei Buzu, highlighted that the authorities are committed to modernizing the social benefits system, making it more accessible, fair, transparent, and tailored to the needs of citizens.

"We have digitized, streamlined, and simplified various payments. Our aim is for state support to be more user-friendly, straightforward, and better targeted. The proposed changes will enable stricter monitoring of financial flows and redirect funds to active beneficiaries and those in urgent need," stated Minister Buzu.

Additionally, the project's information note mentions that it proposes amendments to 22 regulations governing social benefit payments. One significant change is the reduction of the payment collection period from 12 months to 3 months, allowing beneficiaries to request payments when needed.

The regulations affected include compensation for individuals impacted by the Chernobyl disaster, allowances for families with children, support for people with disabilities, unemployment benefits, payments for civil servants, capitalized payments resulting from enterprise liquidation, allowances for athletes and performance coaches, and aid for the descendants of medical personnel who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.
