Citizens got to see how police, firefighters, rescuers, and customs officers work, and even tested some of their modern equipment. Kids especially enjoyed the educational workshops and games. The event was held as part of Diaspora Days.

Over a dozen themed tents were set up in the Great National Assembly Square, which hosted a variety of demonstrations.

"Sweat reacts with a surface. In this case, it’s a paper surface, and we dust it with metallic powder to reveal the fingerprint," explained Andrei Torjînschi, a commissioner from the Criminalistics Department.

"The space we’re in now is the institution’s mobile laboratory—a specialized vehicle equipped for document control that is used in exceptional situations or when a rapid response is needed," said Alexandru Brezițchi, division head at the General Border Police Inspectorate (IGPF).

Alexandru Brezițchi demonstrated how fake documents are detected.

"These are used for making high-value paper documents. They're notable because they are invisible in daylight, but when we use special lights like ultraviolet light, their properties become visible. That’s what distinguishes an authentic document from a fake one."

"We use our horses for patrol. We patrol the recreational areas of Chișinău. They are also used for transporting children to summer camps," said Serghei Mariniuc, deputy head of the National Public Safety Inspectorate (INSP).

Visitors had the chance to learn new things about how the authorities operate.

"My son loved the armored vehicle, and now he’s putting together a puzzle. We also liked the drones and the binoculars."

"When I used to cross the border, I always wondered how they checked passports. I know there are fake passports, and I always thought they just looked at them, but I found out they also have different machines that scan them. I also learned how money is verified."

"Right now, I’m holding a metal detector, and I think it’s a great tool to help out the police and the army."

"This demonstration shows that our democracy is stronger when, in the most important square, besides the formal contact you have with an institution at its official address, you have the opportunity to ask questions and see the public order institutions in action," said Government spokesperson Daniel Vodă.
