Moldova's vocational training scheme to boost youth skills

Young people in Moldova will get a new boost to their skills with the launch of a project to expand dual vocational training.

The scheme aims to increase enrollment in vocational courses by up to 15% by 2028, while improving job prospects for young people and bringing more businesses on board.

The Ministry of Education and Research says more than 15,000 people—including students, parents, teachers, and business owners—will be involved in the project. The scheme will focus on information, training, and capacity building.

To get the project underway, the ministry signed a memorandum of understanding with a number of partners, including Liechtenstein Development Services—Moldova, the "Education for Development" Public Association, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova.

The project is funded by the "Liechtenstein Development Services" Foundation and will run until the end of 2028.

The latest figures show that 2,134 places were available for dual education for the 2025-2026 academic year—an increase of 238 on the previous year. A total of 12,297 state-funded places were offered this summer at vocational colleges and schools.
