Representatives of national minorities will benefit from new opportunities to learn the Romanian language, through a national program approved by the Government, at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Research.
According to the Government, the current program, unlike the previous one, also provides for the training of the adult population, not just preschoolers, pupils and students. At the same time, the program also includes other new elements, such as the implementation of multilingual education, which involves the teaching of non-linguistic subjects in Romanian and in the mother tongue, as well as the certification of the level of linguistic competence of knowledge of the Romanian language for the adult population, in accordance with the provisions of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
In the same way, concrete actions are foreseen to expand the linguistic environment of communication in Romanian through extracurricular activities (educational camps, competitions, workshops, didactic symposia), but also the development of special programs that allow improving the language skills of employees.
According to the cited source, about six thousand teachers and managers will be trained to know the Romanian language.
Another 13 thousand adults from various professional categories, including adult refugees from Ukraine, will learn the Romanian language in the courses. Also, about four thousand non-native students, including refugee children from Ukraine, enrolled in educational institutions in the Republic of Moldova, will participate in various educational programs in Romanian.
