Integration in the European space will ensure peace in the Republic of Moldova. The statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu, after the meeting he had with a group of eight ministers and secretaries of state from several European countries, on a visit to Chisinau. Afterwards, the European officials, as well as the president Maia Sandu, participated in a discussion panel, where they talked about the contribution of women to the modernization of society and their contribution to the European integration processes.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu, declared that, thanks to the support offered by the European partners, in the last year, peace and stability were achieved in our country. According to the minister, currently, the main task of the Republic of Moldova is the preparation for the accession negotiations.
"The best and safest way to ensure the peace, security, democracy and freedom of our country is through continuous and firm integration in the European space. And in this process, today's visit proves it, we are not alone, we rely on and constantly benefit from the support of our partners", said Nicu Popescu.
Representatives of Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Romania, Sweden and Hungary are part of the group of ministers and secretaries of state, who came to Chisinau today. The European officials gave assurances that our country will benefit from all the necessary support for joining the EU.
"Moldova is part of the European family and we appreciate our close relations. We remain committed to further expanding cooperation," said the Minister of European Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, Jessika Roswall.
"All the ministers present today, in the Republic of Moldova, agree that ensuring stability, security and peace in the Republic of Moldova are as important as ensuring security, stability and peace at the level of the entire European Union. The fact that the Republic of Moldova has become a candidate state somehow cancels any question marks", said the Minister of State for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, Laurence Boone.
During the discussion panel titled "Moldova's accession to the EU: a discussion with the ministers for European affairs", President Maia Sandu declared that this visit is also a sign of support from the outside.
"The European Union is, first and foremost, a peace project. The European Union is a project of democracy and prosperity. We, for a long time, have been trying to build democracy in the Republic of Moldova and I think there are things we can be proud of, in spite of difficulties", emphasized the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.
The European officials also went to the Government, where they met with Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The Prime Minister spoke to them about the steps taken by the Executive for our country's accession to the EU, including the creation of the 33 working groups, which coordinate the entire process.
