The Commission for Emergency Situations will order the revision of the electricity tariff today
The Commission for Emergency Situations will today order the revision of the December electricity tariff. The Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) will have to make the decision immediately. This was announced on Monday, December 5, by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu, during a conference on the energy situation in the country.
"We had complicated negotiations with the representatives of Tiraspol and we reached an agreement that provides the country with electricity. The price of electricity following this agreement should decrease", declared Andrei Spînu. The agreement for the supply of electricity to the right bank from the Cuciurgan Power Plant is valid for the next four months. Therefore, assures the Minister of Infrastructure, "this winter we will have cheaper electricity for the whole country". "We are talking about December 2022 and until March 2023. In this sense, we can consider at this stage that this winter we will have cheaper electricity for the whole country. Gas must be used primarily for electricity and heat. We have reduced the risk of massive disconnections due to Russian bombing of Ukraine. More production within the country generates more stability of the power system. The war is not over. The energy crisis risks being even more acute. Winter is just beginning, we are responsible for the fate of millions of people and we have the duty to provide all citizens, families, the elderly with light and heat at the lowest possible prices" continued Andrei Spînu. According to him, electricity could be cheaper by 25% and will cost around 4 lei, compared to almost 6 lei as it currently costs, after the last decision of ANRE.
